Our Story
Crown & Roots by Mae's House was born from a moment most Black women know too well — sitting in a doctor's office, describing symptoms, and being dismissed. Being told it's just stress. Just hormones. Just life.
The founder, a Black woman navigating perimenopause, went looking for natural solutions and found a wellness industry that largely wasn't built for her body, her history, or her experience. So she went back to where healing had always lived — in the roots. In the herbs. In the wisdom passed down through generations of women who knew what the earth could do.
She thought about the women who came before her. The remedies that lived in their kitchens before anyone called it wellness. And she decided to build something that honored all of that — and made it available to every body who needed it.
Three stones sit at the heart of our crown.
A Ruby for the first generation — she planted the roots.
A Topaz for the second generation — she kept them alive.
A Sapphire for the third generation — she built the crown. That's us. That's you.
But Mae's table always had room for everyone. The husband who needed calm. The children who needed gentle care. The whole family gathered, healing together.
